Hobo crime menace continues

Murderer, sexual predator, "victim of society"?
By age 15, he was living on his own. He began drinking. He dropped out of high school.
His early adulthood was characterized by a "sporadic employment history, transient lifestyle and accommodation patterns, substance abuse issues and failed short-term intimate relationships," state the documents.
His first conviction resulted from a 1982 Edmonton break-in. During the next 16 years, he amassed more than two dozen other convictions across Canada . . .
And that was before the indecent exposure charge involving a nun . . . and it gets worse. Via notorious hobophobe, Kathy Shaidle.

  2. Sweep it all under the rug. There is a Commerce Secretary position open!

After all, I don't see any 'failure to pay taxes' on this guy, so I guess he would be just peachy!

  3. The Canadian Hobo menace is seriously under reported. When will we wise up to the gathering threat

  4. I'm a little late to the comments here, but I have news of the continuing problem. My wife told me today about a 13-year-old girl stabbed to death by a 30-year-old "homeless" convicted sex offender just a couple of miles from where I live in the Hazel Dell neighborhood of Vancouver, Washington (just across the Columbia River from Portland, Ore.).

A news story at one of the local TV stations says the guy was a "level 3" sex offender, "a classification that indicates a high probability of repeat sexual offenses, according to the state of Oregon."

If that isn't enough to boil one's blood, consider the following statement from the same story:

Neighbors expressed frustration with the condition of the area where she was found. Police said Sanford was one of several transient sex offenders living in the area.

While googling for more information, I learned that there had been another stabbing a couple of miles south of there also committed by a "homeless" person just a few days earlier (Jan. 29), though this did not result in a fatality. Cops seek one "Randall Leroy,"shown in an accompanying mugshot as a mean looking redneck with a sort of Mohawk hairdo.

When I read the first "hobo" story here a couple of days ago I thought the problem might be slightly exaggerated, as plausible as I found it. Now it seems terribly understated.

I have two little kids and just discussed with my wife the need to put up a fence.

FYI, I e-mailed Kathy Shaidle about this one.

PS. Had problem with story URLs:

In case the following links don't work, for verification purposes, the murderer's name is Darrin Eugene Sanford; his victim was Alycia Nipp.
