His jolly old self was recently photographed having dinner Thursday in Staunton with other conservative bloggers from the Upper Shenandoah:

That's Mike on the left of the photo, which was taken by SWACGirl, the acronym standing for Staunton, Waynesboro, Augusta County. Not to quibble with Lynn Mitchell's choice of monikers, but wouldn't Upper Valley Girl be cuter? (You don't have to change your URL to change your title on Blogger.)

BTW, while I was covering the NY23 election a couple months ago, I met Mike's old newspaper boss Bob Gorman, who is now managing editor of the Watertown (N.Y.) Daily Times.
