Carrie Prejean: Hateful Oppressor?

"The problem with the 'homophobia' smear is that this allegedly dangerous tendency does not correlate with any actual evil. Nearly all 'homophobes' are peaceful, law-abiding citizens who treat the objects of their supposed 'phobia' with civility and courtesy. It is the object of the Left to convince homosexuals that they suffer oppression as the result of the intolerance and prejudice of their fellow citizens, yet it is extraordinarily difficult to argue that homosexuals are oppressed -- the annual income of gay households, calculated as a per-capita average, far exceeds the income of most married-with-children households -- much less that their putative oppression is the result of discrimination at the hands of heterosexual bigots."

UPDATE: Michelle Malkin:
Instead of apologizing for pageant judge Perez Hilton's vile behavior, the pageant director of the Miss California contest, Keith Lewis, sent a note to Hilton throwing Prejean under the bus: "I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss CA USA 2009 believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman. . . . Religious beliefs have no place in politics in the Miss CA family."
Ergo, Perez Hilton, OK; Carrie Prejean, not OK. Secular liberalism, OK; religious conservatism, not OK. The values of the media-culture mainstream are clear, and the price of publicly rejecting those values is equally clear.

Please allow me to call to your attention the continued shifting of the tectonic plates of American politics, as Michelle Malkin moves steadily into alignment with Robert Spencer and Pam Geller, while Charles Johnson drifts toward Meghan McCain. Meanwhile, Carrie Prejean comes out of the closet as a Tea Party conservative. I am once again reminded of Phyllis Chesler and The Camp of the Saints.

WOLVERINES!

UPDATE II: No Sheeples Here notes that, although Miss California didn't win the crown, Perez Hilton is a total queen. Meanwhile, Donald Douglas is exploiting the controversy with admirable shamelessness.

Rule 5A -- "Everybody Loves a Pretty Girl" -- explains both the value of Miss Prejean's courage in speaking up, and the rage of the Left against her. The Left knows very well what I learned more than two decades ago while working as a nightclub DJ: Wherever the pretty girls are, that's where everyone wants to be.

This is why Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter drive 'em nuts. Beauty is associated with prestige, and when a beautiful woman declares herself a conservative, she effectively undermines the prestige of liberalism. If you've contemplated Thomas Sowell's The Vision of the Anointed, you understand that liberals think of themselves as more sophisticated and enlightened than the benighted "masses."

This self-congratulatory liberal self-conception is contradicted when their ideology is not embraced by prestige-conferring beauties. Liberals have no problem getting their agenda endorsed by airhead Hollywood starlets, but whenever one encounters the confluence of beauty and brains, conservative beliefs are far more prevalent.

My beautiful and intelligent conservative wife is sufficient evidence of that phenomenon, but noting the "progressive" outrage over Tom Tancredo's appearance at the University of North Carolina, perhaps Mrs. Other McCain won't mind my adducing other evidence of the widespread appeal of Youth For Western Civilization:

Rep. Tom Tancredo and young extremist Clever S. Logan. (Better watch your step, Big Sexy, or these right-wingers will have you deported.)

UPDATE III: Linked at Memeorandum, with this observation from Dan Riehl: "It's getting so one can hardly express a critical thought if it isn't acceptable to the Left."

UPDATE IV: Allahpundit has video of an interview with Miss North Carolina, who won the Miss USA pageant because of Miss California's political disqualification.

UPDATE V: "Sometimes you read something that makes you want to stand up and applaud. This is one of those!"

UPDATE VI: Donald Douglas, all-around extremist.

Just as it is the object of the Right to convince Christians that they are being persecuted.Ergo:

"Ergo, Perez Hilton, OK; Carrie Prejean, not OK. Secular liberalism, OK; religious conservatism, not OK."

Leave it to you guys to make a mountain out of a molehill. Overlook, willingly, the fact that there were 12 judges on that panel. And overlook Miss Ca.'s less than eloquent answer to the question. "Opposite Marriage"? The problem here was not the content of her answer but the sheer stupidity of how she answered the question.
But don't let that stop you guys from putting her on a pedestal, ala Joe the Plumber, in your relentless but sad effort to raise your whining to national proportions.Like Joe, she will run with this "controversy" and milk it for what it's worth. Only a matter of time before she's a Fox News talking head....
    Losers...

  2. Ann Coulter is not attractive in the least. Michelle, sure, in that tiny-Asian-spinner sort of way. But Coulter has the mug of a truck stop tranny and the body of an emaciated giraffe.

As for Miss CA being a combo of "beauty and brains" . . . well, I'll give you the first, though she isn't exactly my type (I like smallish, dark haired, big blue eyes, B-cups). But brains? She sounded like a total dunce. Repeating sermon lines ain't "brains."

  4. Now as to Young 4Eyes:

Are you able to respond without the personal insults ("...less than coherent...")?

And are you able to respond to the question AT ALL?

It is a matter of fact that Christian beliefs are under assault. Gay "marriage" is only one facet; the Abortion/Euthanasia campaign is another, as is the suppression of speech (see Canada.)

Abortion actually HAS cost lives. Speech suppression HAS cost careers (and money.)

And, I should add, acting against Nature has also cost lives and money--see AIDS in your dictionary.

If religion has no place in the Miss CA family, why did Hilton introduce it? Or is that too obtuse for the pageant?

4eyes, maybe, like, you know, Prejan was surprised by the answer so it took a minute to figure out what Her Highness was doing. Hence the less than eloquent answer. Because, like, you know, maybe she thought that politics have no place in the Miss CA fami...sorry, I got that wrong. She thought religion has no place in the pageant. Stupid b---h.

Ambush politics: the Left at work.

The point for us, okay, me, maybe not McCain, but for me, the point was not who won the pageant. Really, I didn't watch it because I don't care. The point is his responses after the pageant, which got a lot more airtime than the pageant. You and yours are highfiving each other that the cowardly little twit schooled her by his making his disapproval known to the world.

    Lispy. Little. Losers.

  6. Here's my question: shouldn't Hilton, Keith Lewis and everyone who thinks gay marriage is beyond debate disapprove of all-women beauty pageants? I mean, why shouldn't Hilton himself have the opportunity to compete to become Miss CA or Miss USA, if that's the way he perceives his own sexuality, or it makes him feel good, or whatever? Certainly transvestites, transexuals, tran-women and what not should be allowed to compete, right? Not permitting it is clearly a form of homophobic oppression. Anyway, I thought these contests were long ago condemned as misogenist, so does that make Hilton a sexist?

    Hard to keep up!

  7. Response to John Burke:
Exactly. The reason gay guys collect around "beauty" pageants is because they have nothing to do with either women or beauty. Pageant contestants are pathetic robots who look nothing like actual women (not even the contestants look like their pageant "selves" 99% of the time). The surgeries and implants, vomiting, laxative abuse, heavy-to-the-point-of-bizarre make-up, obsessive work-outs and dieting that threaten to permanently damage women's fertility all have nothing to do with looking like any sort of real, actual woman ("pretty" or otherwise). Prejean and her pitiful sisters are pseudo-"female" impersonators as surely as any gay man. Why any woman would subject herself to this level of self-hatred and self-destruction is beyond me, but her motivation is surely the same as that of any homosexual or "transgender" person, i.e. to triumph over the natural world, to presume to pretend that God has no control over us, to continue to push the definitions of "beauty" and "pretty" to make them serve the Culture of Death.

    Not "pretty". Far from it.
