VIDEO: 'A fat man flying!'

In Boston in 1773, Molly Far saw a horrifying vision:

From the Pasadena Tea Party Patriots and, in case you didn't recognize the actress playing Molly, it's SNL alumna Victoria Jackson. Molly's prophetic vision of the bounteous land of fruit turned into a barren wilderness on account of a smelt is, alas, all too real.

Mötley CR:Ü: Shout at the Data

by Smitty

What better answer to the Warmaquiddick hair ball than a hair band?
The artistic dreck that is Mötley Crüe is the perfect contrast to the scientific dreck that is the Climate Research Unit, and I expect this will be the first of many parodies.

Shout shout shout
Shout shout shout
Shout at the data!

ManBearPig screaming lonely in the night
Carbon footprint on the stay-yay-yage
Warming fear in your eye
Being taxed by his lies
He's the Cap on your back--he's rage
Occam's razor on your life
Oh, lonely are our wives
My head's spinnin' round and round
But when the seasons are bent
He stands, incontinent
We're strong and laugh and

[Chorus]
Shout shout shout
Shout at the data
Shout shout shout

They 'steal' the mail from the serv
Calls for blood at the nerve
And then have you crying at coh-oh-ode
Steals integrity from youth
With his Inconvenient Truth
The polar bear guilt mother lode
He'll be the Florida in the math
And maybe Michael Moore's wrath
Might run scared for the door
It's like M. C. Escher
Crossed with Fran Drescher
Were strong and laugh and

[Chorus]

[Repeat V1]

[Chorus]

Update: Pecunious Predator 'lanch

Update II: Rightofcourse goes Vaudeville.

Update III: Robert Gibbs. "No real scientific basis for the dispute of this." Oh, Robert, your lobotomy scar is showing.

Oh, and another point about Gore

by Smitty

The Blogprof has some bunk by Al comparing Global Warming to Civil Rights.

Al's credibility is thoroughly shot. While there is always hope for redemption in the future, at least in the theological sense. However, the present and the past are all suspect.

For example, the 2000 election. Al was on Weekend Update with Seth Myers recently trying to make a dry joke about being a 'popular vote' guy. As we start roasting a few ACORNs over an open legal fire, what revelations about the 2000 election might emerge? Was the whole Florida thing just an attempt to work the refs, as Al Franken more recently did with success?

That's the thing, Al: your reputation is your most vital asset. Your best hope for redemption is to go write a tell-all memoir and just come clean about the whole global takeover plot.

Yeah, well, the Academy don't give a damn

by Smitty

Look, Gore: we don't care what Thor says about the friggin' Nobel Peace Prize. Putting you in company with Barack, Jimmy, and Yasser makes a poetic statement about you for the ages. Also, the Scandinavians have oil.

We, on the other hand, have to consider the future. We awarded you an Oscar for a documentary, not a drama. That means that the material has to be, you know, valid.

Considering the moronic hijinks of our current crop of stars, constantly shilling for Teh One, the spinelessness of our directors, the utter dreck we call scripts, and the fact that all of the sheep we regularly shear are completely broke, we need a victim. A big victim. A victim with a name. For example: Al.

Now, if you don't want to see a flick featuring a former Vice President who...
  • Is credited with inventing a new communications medium
  • Attempts to re-invent government, somehow makes it suck more
  • Tries and fails to rig an election
  • Collaborates with a bunch of socially mal-adapted climate nerds on world-wide, multi-billion dollar scam
  • Has said scam blow up in his face the day before he goes on SNL to flog some book of his that no one is going to read
...you can avoid the humiliation by giving us back our statue and a public groveling speech of not less than 5 minutes duration. It could go down in history as your first speech to which attention is paid by intelligent people, Al.

Your crappy stunts, and the idiotic policies of our day are so bad that we may be forced to go back to producing material that edifies and ennobles the audience just to recoup from your idiocy. We can't support your kind of rank propaganda--the blowback is killing us. So just fork over the statue quietly, and we won't have to film "Our Choice Assault on the Inconvenient Balance of Jackassery".

For all that, we don't want to appear peevish compared to Thor, so we'll slide you a substitute Oscar in suitable container:

Al Gore on SNL

by Smitty

Al Gore is on SNL to flog his new book. No, this blog won't bother putting in a URL, much less trying to figure out the title of the forgettable thing.

Unfortunately, he's been made a fool by the global warming emails, and he sounds a fool on weekend update.

The real question is by how many orders of magnitude Sarah Palin will outsell Al Gore, the only many capable of making Harry Reid seem a dynamic speaker in comparison.

Worse SCOTUS idea than Princess Kennedy: Gore

by Smitty

I thought the HillBuzz suggestion of Princess Kennedy was a decent split of the territory between stupid and absurd.
Pat in Shreveport sees my absurd, and raises me a Nobel Prize and an Oscar: Al Gore for SCOTUS.
Pat quotes the Catholic weekly America:
there is a long tradition of having those with legislative or executive experience on the Court, a tradition that has fallen by the wayside as Presidents have sought nominees with little or no paper trail. Earl Warren was a lawyer, and had served as attorney general of California, but it was his stature as a three-term Governor who was nominated by both parties for the job that earned him the nod for the Court in 1953.
It makes great sense in Hopey-change America. We have a POTUS who's got more best-sellers under his belt than substantive legislation.
Where Pat's post only gets a B+ instead of the A grade is that she neglected to nominate RSM instead. Like Gore, Stacy hasn't a law degree. Unlike the Global Grilling Gadfly, Stacy's opinions can be guaranteed in advance not to render the reader comatose.

Can't Control Cold Climate Comfort

by Smitty

Last Updated: Sunday, April 12, 2009 | 8:05 PM ET
CBC News

Snowfall warnings have been issued for Atlantic Canada. Environment Canada has issued warnings for eastern New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and northern Nova Scotia. As much as 15 centimetres* of snow is expected to blanket the northeastern areas of New Brunswick on Sunday night with strong northerly winds reducing visibility, the weather forecaster said.
Al Gore was not quoted as saying "Just tell those Canucks to eat more Thai food."

Update:
Fabius Maximus on the "deep solar minimum", plus a mother-lode of climate links for fulminating friends.

Update II:
Powerline with a Pajamas Media history lesson on the topic.
*That's a smidge under half a foot. Or a third of a cubit for you really retro types.

Conservative Infidel: About That Polar Bear Photo

by Smitty

Here is some Aussie goodness that, well, makes our former Vice President look a total goon for, say, time number 3,632:

May the traffic be with you, CI.

Tennessee Author Coming To Shelf Near You

by Smitty

No, not the Instapundit. Rather Senator Albert Arnold Gore, Junior.
"Our Choice," will be released in November, printed on 100 percent recycled paper. The book, which proposes solutions to the global warming crisis documented in "Inconvenient Truth," was called "The Path to Survival" when first announced two years ago.
One wishes the man well. My he win a Pullet Surprise, to form a trifecta with his Nobel and Oscar.

Hysteria for profit

Matthew Vadum exposes how Al Gore's $300 million global-warming ad campaign could end up making Gore a much larger profit:
Does $300 million sound like a lot of money? It does, except when you consider how much more Gore stands to personally profit from the climate of mass hysteria he’s been been helping to create with a no-holds-barred campaign of misinformation aimed at marginalizing and ostracizing all those who dare to question his take on global warming. . . .
Gore himself is chairman and founder of a private equity firm called Generation Investment Management (GIM). According to Gore, the London-based firm invests money from institutions and wealthy investors in companiesthat are going green. . . .
If carbon emissions trading ever comes to the United States, Al Gore will be uniquely positioned to cash in. . . .
If Gore can keep up the pressure for carbon emissions restrictions, he could end up a very wealthy man. Given that, the $300 million doesn’t seem like a lot of money after all.
Hat-tip to Little Miss Atilla, who comments:
All I know is that Gore has a hammer -- of sorts -- and it looks like most of the most pressing problems in the country and on the globe are starting to resemble nails.
Something else to remember: Just because something is "non-profit" doesn't mean that people aren't getting paid. There are plenty of people making six-figure incomes -- to say nothing of tax-free perks like expense-paid travel to "conferences" held at resort locations -- on the payrolls of non-profit groups.

And that's just the legit stuff. Outright non-profit fraud is something else. As part of the Abramoff scandal, a former Tom DeLay aide set up a bogus "think tank" in a beach house in Rehoboth Beach, Del., hiring his buddies for no-show jobs.

The mere fact that someone has a non-profit 501(c) ostensibly devoted to some worthy cause does not for a minute convince me that they're on the up-and-up. Given that Al Gore is a Democrat, I naturally suspect he's running a scam of some sort.
