READ MY LIPS: NO MORE BUSHES!

Just in case you started reading this blog since I said this the last time, the lesson that the Republican Party should have learned over the past 20 years is simple: Lie down with Bushes, wake up with Democrats.

The first President Bush betrayed the Reagan legacy and handed America to Bill Clinton.

The second President Bush betrayed the Reagan legacy and handed America to Barack Obama.

Maybe you're starting to see a pattern here. Therefore, whatever Jeb Bush says, (a) ignore his advice, and (b) don't even think about letting him anywhere near a Republican presidential nomination.

  1. I agree completely. Bush spent like a democrat, and appeased the democrats instead of his base on all items except the military and the courts.

Socially and fiscally he was a huge disappointment.

  2. That is EXACTLY what I thought after reading about what Jeb Bush said. Hopefully Ole Jeb's last name will keep him from being nominated. I noticed John McCain was allowed to be part of that little group. God bless the Republican Party. It's obvious they're completely out to lunch.

  3. Hmm.

Hold on a sec little campers!

Now, what has been said on the first two Bushes is true, however, Jeb was an awesome Gov.

I lived in the Tampa Bay area for almost two decades, and Jeb was the man.

I don't think he should go for the Prez either, the USA is exhausted of that dynasty for now, but Jeb was the best of them when he held the reins.

    Just for the record.

The recent Moderate Squish Tour has let me down, but he was no squish as Gov.

  4. I guess they were trying to get Palin to come down and join their little RINO Hog Wash Club and she didn't even bother to answer.

So what happens? Mitt snarks about Palin's looks.

  5. Okay, the screw Reagan stuff sucked.

(Jeb was still a good Gov.)

Instead of trying to bury Ronald Reagan, why don't our leaders try to be Ronald Reagan?

In '08, a bunch of Democrats in disguise were scrambling for the Reagan mantle. It was such a damn farce.

These Douche bags don't get that we don't want a bunch of Reagan invoking.

We just want a leader who can lead without being embarrassed for leading.

  6. The current batch of republicans under Bush W have worked themselves tirelessly to irrelevance..

    Let's do it once more..

It's bound to work this time!

  7. Just another Florida resident here to say that, as a governor, Jeb was no clone of his father or brother. As far as GOP officeholders go, he was no Ron Paul or Mark Sanford, but he was far better than 80-90% of the rest of them. (This is to damn with faint praise, but Jeb Bush would be a far better pres nominee than were McCain, Dole, Bush I, Bush II, Gerald Ford, or Richard Nixon.)

  8. From what I've seen of Jeb Bush, he does seem to be of the "true" conservative bent.

However, and this goes along the lines of Stacy's point, enough is enough.

If the Republican party is serious and I MEAN SERIOUS, about electoral victory, then the party can be represented by the Bushes and the Newts and the Grahams of the world.

We need fresh faces not to "rebrand" the party with moderation, but to espouse the PROVEN conservative ideals that made this party great once before.

If the Republican party wants to go down the road with another Bush at the helm, after Bush I and Bush II, then they get what they deserve.

  9. You are absolutely RIGHT!
The Bush Clan thinks Laissez- Faire Economics is Voo Doo Economics. Their brand of tax and spend has resulted in 2 recessions! Which in turn – as you correctly point out – gave us 2 Dems in the White House. Clinton got in in 92 with only 42%; which was still 133% of George’s vote!
My personal opinion is people opposed to Capitalism should be Democrats; not Republicans!

  10. This is just another example of how out of touch the Republican party has become with their base, how utterly hostile to anything new, how indifferent to their principles. Another retread, legacy party hack with the same old lines. "We have to alienate our base to win over those independents!" "We must pander to everyone except conservatives!"

Yeah, because that worked so well for McCain. Even Sarah Palin couldn't get enough conservatives excited about voting for McCain. He went around pandering to people who would never vote for him while driving away droves of conservatives. At the last minute Sarah Palin enters the picture, energizes the base and begins to get conservatives excited about a race that was almost certainly lost. And her reward for almost being able to save his campaign is to be marginalized by these party elite weasels.

And let me say that I don't know enough about Jeb Bush to criticize him. This isn't about him. It's about Dubya. Are you kidding me?!? You want to essentially give the democrats a chance to run against GW Bush again?!? Because that's what this would be. It's not like having the last name "Bush" won't be a wee obstacle to actually winning. I wonder what highly paid genius strategists are floating this as a good idea?

I'm getting sick of these idiots. I'll vote for Maxine Waters for president before I'll vote for Jeb Bush. If I'm going to throw away my vote, I might as well get a few laughs out of it.

  11. I don't have any desire to see Jeb run for president but I will echo what The Rude Dog said. I've live in Tampa Bay for about twenty-five years and Jeb was a great governor. I was glad we had him the year of Charlie, Francis, Ivan and Jean.

  12. I'm with Eric Dondero. Dump a squish vote and earn two or three right/libertarian votes in exchange.

Bold colors and stand tall. A lot of flops in the middle will flip if all we do is offer a strong, clear alternative. "Me too" isn't going to work next time any better than it did with The Grump.

  13. One Word.

    Mark Sanford.

    ....now what was the question?

  14. Someone didn't watch the last election.

    Obama ran HARD left.

The only issue has squished on, was gay marriage.

How come Perez Hilton isn't attacking Obama over that?

Anyway, America picked Obama over McCain because Obama appeared more decisive.

All of his attractiveness, beautiful voice and good reading skills were icing on a veneer of surefootedness.

    Americans admire boldness.

  15. I used to think Jeb might be my favorite Bush. Now I realize that was just because I knew less about him.

  16. What was it, exactly, that Jeb did to prevent the murder of Terri Schiavo?

  17. Ronald Reagan pulled the Senior Bush out of the gutter and gave him new life when he picked him for Veep. This in turn allowed him to run for President which he won because of the Gipper. He then immediately turned his back on Reagan's conservative principles and got beat by none other than Jimma Carter.
The Bush's have taken the GOP down the prime rose path and let it die an unnatural death. I really don't care what any of the Bush's have to say about anything
