Team Maverick turns on Kristol

Heh:

Kristol's latest column:
It’s time for John McCain to fire his campaign.
He has nothing to lose. His campaign is totally overmatched by Obama’s. The Obama team is well organized, flush with resources, and the candidate and the campaign are in sync. The McCain campaign, once merely problematic, is now close to being out-and-out dysfunctional. Its combination of strategic incoherence and operational incompetence has become toxic. If the race continues over the next three weeks to be a conventional one, McCain is doomed.
Actually, I think the main problem in the McCain campaign is . . . John McCain. He's always happiest when he's bashing fellow Republicans and has neither the instincts nor the appetite to campaign as a conservative Republican against a liberal Democrat.

The best campaign staff in the world can't save a bad candidate and I think it has become plainly evident that John McCain is a bad candidate.

  1. He was tortured by his enemies, and then never put back in to fight them. One has to wonder what type of psychological effects that might have. And, no, I am not being "smart" or disrespectful. I am no therapist. Then again, I do not need to be. Just like I do not need to be a fireman to notice a house is on fire, a mechanic to know an engine isn't running, etc.

  2. wow. kristol finally gets something right.
this campaign is pathetic, as is this party.
the ship is sinking, and they want to talk about how bad the appetizers are.

  3. Campaign staff defending themselves before speaking for the candidate.

McCain is indeed the flawed candidate he always was. Nothing new there. Vastly better than Obama as a person and leader but not the creature of modern media that Obama is. McCain will still win, but damn is it an ugly thing to look at.
