At an Obama rally in Scranton, Pa., today, both
Bill and Hillary Clinton spoke out for Democratic Rep. Paul Kanjorski, who's being challenged by Lou Barletta, the mayor of Hazelton, Pa., whose crackdown on illegal aliens had made him a hero of amnesty opponents. Bill Clinton:
Folks, Paul Kanjorski's got a tough race. He's got a tough race because some people in his district believe that illegal immigration is a bigger cause of their economic problems than President Bush's economic policies. I got news for them and I've got news for you - you need to help him get re-elected.
Hillary Clinton:
I just want to reiterate what Bill said. We need as many Democrats in the Congress as we can get and we need to send Paul Kanjorski back to the House of Representatives.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that Barletta will get a higher percentage of the vote than John McCain does in Pennsylvania's 11th District.
