'Compassionate Conservatism,' R.I.P.

Diana West blames the woes of the GOP on George W. Bush, with a hearty endorsement from Michelle Malkin.

Me? I blame David Brooks. I blame everything on David Brooks. If I stub my toe, I blame David Brooks. If a sparrow falls, blame David Brooks.

It's sort of a Unified Field Theory.

  1. There´s no getting around the fact that Bush was a two-term winner and his "compassionate conservatism" was a big reason. For example, as much as illegal immigration worries me, it has never been a winning issue for conservatives. Who has ever won running on it? The majority opinion even among many Republicans seems to be: Secure the border, but stuff the deportation talk. It repulses not only hispanics but also many Christians. Bush knew that, like it or not.

  2. I think most people would be on board with:

Seal the boarder (fence, fines on employers hiring illegals..)

deport the nasty ones. (the raping hobos, gang bangers running drugs, etc.)

Then lets talk about what to do next.

  3. Wouldn't that be your Uniform failed theory?
