Jindal does himself no favors

Ace and Allah both dissed the Louisiana governor's earnest-dork performance:

A big wiffle-ball swing and a miss for the consensus favorite 2012 candidate of Republicans who look down their nose at Sarah Palin. I like Jindal. Great conservative with good ideas. But Palin's so much better on TV, there's no comparison. Whatever her weaknesses, you can't deny she's got the telegenic quality.

UPDATE: Think Progress has video of the Fox News panel trashing Jindal's performance:

"This was not Bobby Jindal's greatest oratorical moment."

  1. I think she has bigger balls. Seriously, this guys burnt Milquetoast. I mean does this guy inspire anyone other than beltway types? Drop the "token colored" Conservative and stick to someone who can actually read off a teleprompter without sounding like an inauthentic boob.

  2. I live in La. and see Jindal speak on the news with some regularity. Within the first 15 seconds of his speech all I could think was WTF?! Was he nervous? Overcoached? Snatched by pod-people and replaced with an alien being?

It was awful. The cheesy stories were ridiculous.

    Ugh.

I agree on the Palin factor - she's got charisma and is much more telegenic; however, this was NOT the Bobby we know in Louisiana. He was completely and totally off his game.

    I was embarrassed for him.

Palin gives a great speech, but Jindal is a far better extemporaneous speaker, and the latter is more important in a campaign than oratorical skills. The debates and TV interviews have a lot more impact on how people vote on Election Day, than anything read off the prompter at the convention.

Hence, I would lean towards Jindal or Romney as the 2012 nominee over Palin (also, Palin has continued to express support for amnesty, even after the campaign ended and she was no longer shackled to RSM's crazy cousin).

  4. He looked nervous and I'm not sure why. He's usually very confident. My guess is someone over prepared him.

He needs to just do his job in Louisiana and he'll be fine.
