Rebellion in Florida GOP?

Here in Orlando for today's last stop of the Tea Party Express, I find some interesting local news:
The rebellion against Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer appears to be coming to a head. As first reported by Gary Fineout of The Fine Print, a number of GOP leaders Florida are demanding a "special emergency closed meeting'' of the state party's executive board.
Notice that the St. Petersburg Times is forced to admit they got beat by a blog. Gary Fineout reports:
Greer, the state GOP chairman since 2007 and an ally of Gov. Charlie Crist, has been accused of everything from playing favorites, turning his back to dirty tricks by party operatives and failing to properly supervise the use of party credit cards. While some have characterized Greer’s critics as a small minority, the call for the meeting shows that recent incidents are beginning to worry party leaders.
Part of the controversy involves the Florida GOP's relationship with accused Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein. No wonder Charlie Crist is starting to panic.

  1. But all the libs say we are kicking Snowe out to replace her with a Dem in Maine (and the Dems are all happy). They seem silent on the Florida GOP shifting conservative and the South Carolina GOP slapping little Lindsay Graham around.

  2. Replace Olympia Snowe with a Democrat? Isn't that just truth in advertising?

  3. OT: Apparently the count is still going down in NY-23; it's unlikely that Hoffman can overcome the gap but it's looking like it may come down to absentee ballots

  4. richard mcenroe, yes and no. Yes Olympia Snowe is way way too liberal and fickle for my tastes, but with the Dems having the numbers they have in the Senate we cannot afford any more seats going from R to D. We have to make seats go D to R. And if Snowe falls in Maine (poetic aint I) I am sure the alternative may be worse. Probably not far worse (like Sentator Frankenstein in Minnesota) but still worse.

I am all for supporting the Doug Hoffmans of the world on conservative seats. Get rid of Lindsay Graham and replace him with a conservative who can win in South Carolina--great. Get rid of Charlie Crist and replace him with a conservative who can win in Florida...okay (frankly I am a little nervous about that since Crist is still very popular in his state). Each race is unique.

  5. I am going to trust Stacy on the Frist thing. I mean he is on the ground in Florida and in the pool for goodness sake.

I am not a fan of Crist. I like conservatives running and competing in primaries. I do want to make sure that the conservative winning the primary can win the general election too. As conservatives, we also have to have faith that it is a winning philosophy. A cheery optomistic pragmatic but principaled conservatism can win. I remember a guy from California who did that.

  6. Rubio can & will win in Florida. Crist is not much better than Snowe. Neither can be trusted!

  7. Any Republican who doesn't hold themselves to a higher standard needs to get out of the way. We do not need any more scandals getting in the way of saving this Country from the gangster government Czar system put in place by our new Activist In Chief.

  8. Is that Jim Greer the RINO ex-probate judge who rubber-stamped the murder of Terri Schiavo?

  9. BTW a little something on Crist. If Republicans do not know about it, then they need to investigate his antics at the Iguana club. He is not a suitable candidate for the Republicans.
