Obama 'gracious' and 'uplifting'?

Gag me with a HuffPo:
We've embarked on a national attempt to find something redeeming in the Gates-Crowley affair -- to find the "teachable moment." Obama's gracious and politically astute offer to bring the two men together is an example of what Obama does best -- creating an uplifting moment of reconciliation, a feel-good moment in which each party can have their say in front of the cameras . . .
Sentimental treacle, oblivious to the reality: Obama shot himself in the foot by offering an opinion where he didn't know the facts.

Yet the idiotic Robin Wells is certainly correct that this episode "is an example of what Obama does best" -- posture heroically to invite adulation from simple-minded liberals.

In other words, Obama is nothing more than Oprah.

Yeah, right... Except for the fact that the facts were pretty much there to begin with. Oh, except for the recent disclosures of the initial 911 phone call and the subsequent police report that shows a possible false arrest commited by Sgt. Crowley.
It's amazing to see with what expedience any principle is abandoned when political sophistry becomes an option within any given dialogue, especially when that dialogue deals with race relations.
He shot himself in the foot? Conservatives would love to believe this. But what's new considering that Conservatism sustains itself on the intoxicating gas that is wishful thinking.
And it is this wishful thinking that drives the current Conservative schoolbus. It is wishful thinking that makes it possible for Cons to wake up in the morning and bank on the old Nixonian "politics of resentment". Afterall, what else does your "ideology" have?
No Stacy, Obama was right afterall. He spoke his mind and looking at the facts now he was dead on. Without a doubt your side will overlook these inconvenient truths, but it is what you guys do best.
As usual, Cons are on the wrong side of history and on the wrong side of the issues. But what the hell, right? Galvanizing a swath of ignorant hicks to keep the base intact is waaay more important than standing by any principle, especially principles your side purports to stand for.
    Idiots.....
