GOP-HQ finally buys a clue!

Wow:
"The financial crisis of 2008 had its roots primarily in ill-conceived government policies," reads the memo. It was prepared by Republican staffers to advise GOP members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on how to handle a recent hearing on the government's role in Bank of America's purchase of Merrill Lynch.
The memo attacks Bush's -- and Obama's -- bailout policies for exacerbating the crisis. "Given the role of government policies in creating the conditions for the housing bubble which caused the financial crisis, it is remarkable that the prescription of the Bush Administration and the Democratic Congress was more government intervention in the economy," it says. "The Obama administration has not missed a stride."
Somebody at GOP-HQ has finally got a clue to what Michelle Malkin -- and Heritage, and Cato, and Instapundit, and every other actual pro-market individual or institution in America -- has been saying for more than a year: Keynesian "pump-priming" does not work, and is not conservative.

Next, it may become safe to say what Bruce Barlett said in 2006: George W. Bush never was a conservative.

Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty . . .

  1. Contrast Obama's fiction-based beautification of the disastrous New Deal (but this time on steroids) with the Reagan Recovery of the 1980s, which brought us back from 11% unemployment plus double-digit inflation AND interest rates.

He accomplished this with an adherence to Milton Friedman's philosophy- with spending and tax cuts, in addition to deregulation and incentives for small businesses and entrepreneurs- all aided by Reagan's sunny optimism and complete faith in the American free-market-enterprise system.

Of course, this is all 180 degrees from what Obama's now foisting on us-

Reagan created over 20M jobs…growing the country’s real GDP by almost 30% in the process. Those kind of results makes one wonder why Obama’s multi-trillion-dollar spending would impress anybody, with his pledged 3.5M new and “saved” jobs (whatever those are)… a paltry figure 16.5M jobs shy of The Gipper’s towering accomplishment.

Of course the press never asked The One any questions about this BS "pledge" or reckless economic policies. They were too busy with his lengthy puppy-vetting process and how he likes to play basketball.

    God help this country-

  4. Dear Mr. McCain: "Next, it may become safe to say what Bruce Barlett said in 2006: George W. Bush never was a conservative.

Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty . . ."

No Child Left Behind. Yup. Prescription Drug Benefit for Medicare. Check. Steel tariffs. Urgh.

But then: the 2001 tax cuts. Two fellows named John G. Roberts and Samuel Alito, and a batch of other fine judges on the lower benches. He also gets some credit for trying to reform Social Security, and reining in Freddie & Fannie.

Conservative? Not conservative? I'm glad he was Prez. I'm just as glad he isn't any more.

    Next.

    Sincerely yours,
    Gregory Koster
