Quote of the Day

"Listen, I just want to say one thing. Having been in the South in the '60s and Los Angeles, in Watts and northern urban areas, when we were evolving as a country, I'm thinking of all the bigots and rednecks and people I met along the way. I'm saying to them, 'Take this.' You know?"
-- Tom Brokaw, MSNBC

  1. Political Correctness gone awry... Instead of being offended on behalf of another, here old Tom is being elated on behalf of another. My. God. We. Have. 4+. More. Years. Of. This. ???

  2. And the large chunk of people not fitting these strawman categories continue to endure patiently such stylings, Mr. Brokaw.

  3. You are a glutton for punishment, Mr. McCain. I grew up in Texas, though not in the 60s, more like the 90s, but comments like that just sting. And they reveal a deep seated bigotry among those who utter them.

  4. MLK asked to judge a man based on the content of his character and not the color of his skin, yet we see so many vote because of the latter. It's the triumph of emotion over reason. Someone please rationalise, even quantify "Hope" and "Change". There is no substance. We seem to be descending into mysticism and irrationality. I can't wait for our test.

  5. Unfortunately, the rest of us have to take it too, just so useful idiots like Tom can pat themselves on the back for electing the first black president.

  6. I heard Laura Ingraham talk about this inane comment on her show today. A caller had a great point. The segragation was not just going on in the South. It was nationwide. Only more subtle. Here in California, the bastion of "progressive" politics, one could still not sell homes to blacks. Small town California had those segragated lunch counters. Tom Brokow is an idiot for saying such crap. But, that is all ANYONE watching MSNBC had to put up with. I just hope that they all cleaned themselves up after the Obamalacuation!
