The global recession is endangering the construction of the athletes' village for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Globe and Mail is reporting.Thank God, this only affects Canadians and curling fans, rather than actual human beings for whom we might otherwise feel pity. British Columbia's parliament approved an emergency bill that allows Vancouver to borrow up to $369 million to get the athletes' village in shape. The host city's original lender cut off funding late last year, and Vancouver had been getting by on high-interest bridge loans.
