I am a lesbian trapped in a man's body

And if you don't hire me, I'll sue you:
A federal district court judge in Washington, D.C., ruled today that the Library of Congress discriminated against Diane Schroer when it offered her a job and then rescinded it after learning she was transgendered.
The American Civil Liberties Union, which represented Schroer, said Judge James Robertson's ruling is the first to hold that the federal sex discrimination statute, Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, applies to transgendered people.
Just because I'm at a very early stage of transition -- being a married father of six and all that -- doesn't mean that I don't have rights as a transgendered lesbian. So I'm applying to be an op-ed columnist for the New York Times and if they don't hire me? Hey, see you in court, you sexist homophobes! (I'll also sue the Pulitzer Prize committee for their years of discrimination against me.)

Once I hear back from my ACLU lawyer, we'll be on our way to the landmark case of McCain v. Sulzberger, forever enshrining in the Constitution the rights of all of us who are proud to be gay women with penises, just as the Founding Fathers intended.

I am woman, hear me roar!

  1. You know Robert, she really is an absolutely gorgeous '70's chic.

I wonder what she's up to these days? She's still alive right?

  2. 9 times out of 10, I agree with you.

But when you treat the war on terror as a joke, and use your blog to spit in the face of a decorated vet, you go too far.

I know this is difficult, against what you know, but here's the facts.

See A Sex Difference in the Human Brain and its Relation to Transsexuality and Male-to-Female Transsexuals Have Female Neuron Numbers in a Limbic Nucleus. Add in fMRT zur Diagnose bei Transsexualität geprüft", though perhaps a translation would be more useful, so here's the relevant part:

The brains of anatomically male transsexuals, who identify as female, did not react as typical males do to visual erotic stimuli. In a study using functional MagnetoResonanceTomography(MRT) the reaction was instead typically female.
    ...
This specifically male activation of the limbic system was not found in the transsexual sample. Under fMRT, the pictures corresponded rather accurately to those of the female sample.

Radiologists can now confirm what transsexuals report - that they feel “trapped in the wrong body” - on the basis of the activation of the brain when presented with erotic stimuli. There is obviously a biological correlation with the subjective feelings.

There's rather a lot of other medical papers on the subject, autopsy reports, Brain Scans, but they all say the same thing.

"Lesbian trapped in a male body" is no joke, no parody, it's true. Diane Schroer is a woman, and always has been. And not even the most butch diesel dyke is a man, nor would be comfy with a man's body.

Think about it, supposing some crazed moonbat kindnapped you and gave you a sex change. Would you just say "That's fine, I'll just be lesbian", or would you move heaven and earth to get the situation surgically corrected?

Diane has served her country well, despite a most dreadful medical condition. One that's so incredibly embarrassing that even she didn't have the courage to get it corrected till the discomfort made it too much to bear.

Please just read the decision. Find out what actually happened. A job vitally important to national security, an applicant vastly better than any of the others, they offered her the job... then withdrew it when she told them she was Transsexual.

Even though she had, and continues to have, the support of her colleagues, also experts in the area, also decorated special forces vets. When you spit on her, you spit on them too.

I was in a similar, though not identical, situation to Col Schroer. I never made any combat jumps, submarine service in the cold war was more my speed. And unlike her, my body, though it looked male, turned out not to be. It changed, as it does with some intersex conditions, and normalised later. That's rare, rarer even than transsexuality, but it happens. I know what it's like to be a woman with a masculine body for decades, and I have to tell you, it Suckethe Bigge Tyme.

Unlike Colonel Schroer, I didn't have the courage to transition. I was too afraid of the catcalls and derision from, well, people like you. Had my body not normalised by itself, I would still be pretending to be a guy.

Please do some more research to make sure I'm not spinning you a line. My own story's in COSMOS Science magazine. You'll find a useful summary of the facts - with URLs to the various medical articles - at BiGender and the Brain. That was written in June, and it's already obsolete - even more evidence for the conclusions has come in since then.

So on this one, to use the vernacular, you've screwed the pooch. And managed to pour scorn on a genuine military heroine and all her colleagues. Your post is in the finest tradition of the Daily Kos and Democratic Underground.

Please read up on the subject, then act as you see fit.

  3. Just as an aside - one of the things I like about conservative blogs is that they're tolerant of dissent.

"Progressive" ones tend to encourage diversity - providing everyone thinks the same they do.

My thanks for allowing a dissenting voice to speak - and please, check up on what I'm saying. There's a lot of snake-oil merchants out there, and what I say can easily be mistaken for just more of the same. It's not, but you really need to look up those URLs and test that for yourself.

    Thanks again, Zoe
