Shocking! Bank of America disses American hero and U.S. flag?

They got their taxpayer-funded bailout, but they can't show respect for a fallen Marine?
A South Carolina Bank of America branch is drawing criticism Thursday after an employee reportedly ordered the removal of American flags placed to honor a fallen Marine over fears that people would be offended.
The Palmetto Scoop received one eyewitness email claiming that the branch manager at Bank of America’s Gaffney branch at 1602 West Floyd Baker Blvd. “told a citizen who was preparing the route for a U.S. Marine killed in action in Afghanistan by placing small American flags along the roadway that the flags might upset some of her customers.”
Said the outraged tipster, “[The branch manager] took them down and made the citizen go in to get them if she didn’t want them thrown away.”
The flags were part of the funeral procession of Lance Corporal Christopher Fowlkes, 20, who died last week after an explosion in Afghanistan’s Helmand province.
More on this shocking scandal at Political Byline.

UPDATE: The cowardly swine are finally forced to 'fess up about that crooked Merrill swindle:
Facing mounting pressure from multiple investigations, Bank of America’s board has voted to reveal the legal advice that the bank received late last year in its merger with Merrill Lynch.
Another relevant headline:
Obama quietly deploying 13,000 more US troops to Afghanistan
Yeah, and his corporate patrons at Bank of America are quietly trying to prevent citizens from honoring the sacrifice of U.S. Marines. What a bunch of creeps. It's like the Second Coming of LBJ.

  1. That doesn't surprise me at all. I work for a governmental agency and the flag wasn't put at half mast on 9/11. One of these days I am going to run it upside down.

  2. Just as an FYI... this happened a month ago.

  3. Using my Google-fu, I got the phone number of the BofA branch and called and spoke to the (new) manager.

The offending manager is no longer there as of 1 week ago. The status of her employment with BofA is not being revealed but I can tell you this based on my phone conversation with the new manager (Reed):
    (1) Before the day she took over the new manager went to Walmart and purchased 20 American flags and put them in front of the business to support the funeral procession
    (2) The manager who originally pulled this stunt is not at the branch anymore
    (3) The new manager is very much a supporter of our troops.

At this point, I'd suggest that we welcome the Gaffney branch of BofA back into the fold, so to speak.

    Good for them.

  4. RACIST... you KNEW that the B0fA bank manager was an Africa-American, didn't you!!!??

And BofA threw her under the bus even though she was merely following BofA policy!!

Okay, in all seriousness, I hadn't a clue WHAT the race is of the branch manager when this whole controversy started, AND STILL don't, but the following article (and the local TV news story kind of speak for themselves:

...or does that make me a racist also?

I went to the Post Orifice today to get the K~Missus some stamps for Christmas Cards.

They had the Eid stamps, for people who are members of the Islamic faith.

They had the Menorah stamps, for people of the Jewish faith.

They had the Kwanzaa stamps, for people of the recently-invented, but not-certain-what faith.

They had pagan-themed stamps, with snowmen, gingerbread men, reindeer, and nutcrackers. I think there might be some Druids or Celts who use these in their religious celebrations.

No stamps said "Christmas". I couldn't find any Christian-themed stamps.

I picked up the pagan stamps, for all of our pagan friends, I guess. Maybe I should wait for some racist-themed stamps?
