What do academic credentials mean?

by Smitty

The Arizona State University community is expressing anger and embarrassment in response to ASU's decision not to award President Barack Obama an honorary degree when he gives the commencement speech there next month. An ASU spokesperson now confesses, "we blew it," and concedes that the university likely would have conferred the honorary degree, but once it became a controversy, ASU administrators were too worried about appearing insincere.

No, no: we all believe your beclowning entirely sincere.

  1. For the first time in a long time I feel some pride in my Arizona alma mater. All those liberal freaks who have had their feelings hurt should go back to California where they belong.

  2. It's a paradox... It's impossible for a university to confer such a credential onto a left wing hack intent on destroying prosperity through ignorance and stupidity, without implying ignorance and stupidity on their own part... which would make the credential, being from an institution of ignorance and stupidity, inherently worthless if not insulting.

  3. Waaaah. The PuffHo crowd is pulling donations because they're not giving the Messiah a rim job along with the hummer; I canceled my Alumni membership (and may dump football season tickets I've held since even before I was a student) when they got down on all fours for him in the first place.

It's true you can't please everyone, but sometimes you can p*ss 'em all off, all at once.
