This year Congress passed (and the clueless idiot in the White House signed into law) the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA), which will go into effect Feb. 10, 2009 -- which activists in the garment trade have named National Bankruptcy Day, because this draconian regulatory regime will destroy the domestic children's apparel manufacturing industry.

I should think that 03Oct08, when the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (AKA "the Bailout") was signed into law, would have more symbolic weight for NBD.

All us handmade toy and "stuff for babies and kids" manufacturers will be outlaws as well if we continue to offer beautiful alternatives to factory mass produced plastic.
