Electoral math

Democratic pollster Paul Maslin breaks down an Obama-McCain matchup state-by-state and sees a tough fight for Obama to reach the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House.

  1. Must be a Clinton Supporter; it took a miracle for Bush to win Iowa and New Mexico in '04, and the trendline is going in the exact opposite direction.

    The author gives absolutely zero weight to turnout: Republicans will not show up to vote for McCain, while Democrats are highly energized.

    Another point he failed to make is up-ticket support.
