Non sequitur of the year

by Smitty (h/t NewsBusters)

"It was warming, John," Buchanan said. "It's not been warming since '98. Secondly, there's no known proof it's because of man and there's no known proof it's a great danger."

However, [Newsweek's Eleanor] Clift felt inclined to responded, rather emphatically. She said she believes U.S. policy should be proactive toward the issue. Her view is arguably indicative of the mainstream media's sentiment on the debate, and she equated it to blind faith when she told Buchanan there's no proof there's a God either, which didn't mean global warming wasn't a danger.

"It's no known proof there's God, either. How much proof do you need, Pat?" Clift replied. "Oh, it is a danger. It's a danger in many places."
There is also no conclusive proof that Pink Floyd wasn't channeling the Wizard of Oz when they recorded the Dark Side of the Moon. Their weak denials only underscore the shenanigans afoot.

  1. You will pardon the OT. But I promised a heads up when I wrote my latest abortion and the libertarian mind piece:

    What To Do?

It is based on the premise that government is a criminal enterprise.

BTW I don't understand why faith is necessary. It is an encumbrance. Belief is useless. Experience is the heart of the matter. If you have experience your "faith" cannot be shaken. Without experience you are a wind vane.

  2. I saw that over the weekend. My dearly beloved promptly snorted, "OK, Let's keep global warming out of the schools too then."

  4. It the government wanted to spend trillions to build churches the Clift might have a point.

  5. She is a nasty, nasty person. Not sure she's a woman actually...maybe one of those old SNL muppets, Scrod or whatever.

I guess she and her fellow journalists believe in GW with as much fervor as a snake handling sumbitch preacher! They believe in the Benny Hinn of Global Warming!

And as someone who plays in a PF tribute, and has done Dark Side with Oz before, DSOTM certainly does show some cinematic allegiance to the movie, but if it were only so easy to say that they wrote it for the movie. They wouldn't do anything as sohpomoric as that. I can't picture Waters saying "alright, the heartbeat at the end, it will come just as Dorothy beats on the tin man's chest. That would be, like, so cool." Can't see it. But there is some synergy, it's good soundtrack music.

  6. AFAIK, nobody is proposing spending trillions of taxpayer dollars because of God's existence.

  7. I've heard but have yet to verify that when Turner Classic Movies plays The Wizard Of Oz, they put Dark Side of the Moon in on the second audio track that's usually used for other languages.

  8. Warming is the way
To get a good job with more pay and you're ok
    Warming, it's means grants
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream
Think I'll buy me a green offset team

    Warming, data sucks
I'm alright Jack, keep your hands off of my stack
    Warming it's a hit
