Mrs. Other McCain rocks D.C.!

Over at the American Spectator, I've posted photos of various bigwigs -- John Fund, Jeri Thompson, Roger Scruton, etc. -- having fun at the annual gala, but the No. 1 celebrity at last night's soiree was Mrs. Other McCain:

Mrs. Other McCain and I with Hannah Giles and Matthew Vadum. I'll post more photos after a while, but first I've got to upload them to Facebook.

'Evil is too weak a word'

"The fabulously wealthy SPLC exaggerates the scope of racism to frighten donors into opening their wallets. SPLC is nominally a public interest law firm, but it spends little on actual litigation. Instead, it uses politically skewed definitions of racism to indoctrinate children while smearing conservatives who question racial preference programs. Evil is too weak a word to describe the Southern Poverty Law Center."
-- Matthew Vadum, Capital Research Center, and author of The Southern Poverty Law Center: A Twisted Definition of "Hate" (PDF)

ACORN transvestite vote fraud?

Jesse Hathaway is right: How the heck did I miss this one? I spent the weekend hanging out with Matthew Vadum, and surely at some point he told me about his American Spectator scoop:
The activist group ACORN, which has long worked with criminals as it preys on the weak and the troubled, is on the verge of yet another public relations catastrophe.
That's because a cross-dressing Ohio male escort whom ACORN registered multiple times to vote was convicted of full-fledged vote fraud in addition to the lesser crime of voter registration fraud. A spokesman for Cleveland prosecutor Bill Mason confirmed yesterday that a local investigation of ACORN remains wide open.
The conviction of Darnell Nash, apparently known by several aliases including Serina "Sexy Slay" Gibbs, is hugely significant for several reasons . . .
Read the whole thing. No doubt about it. I've been off my A-game lately. Got to get my mojo back.

OMG! Ashley Herzog has decided to prove once and for all she's a natural blonde!

Photographic proof, IYKWIMAITYD!

Not since Little Miss Attila published those nude photos of Hannah Giles has such a scandal rocked the conservative blogosphere. BTW, both Ace of Spades and Matthew Vadum claim to have seen Little Miss Attila topless at CPAC a couple of years ago, but they're probably just joking.

Speaking of natural blondes, everybody's favorite strawberry blonde, Becky Banks Brindle, will be having her big church wedding to Allen "Big Al" Brindle next weekend in Pittsburgh. Allen is very tall and has incredibly large hands, which probably explains why Becky dragged him to a courthouse in Virginia in December to stake her legal claim to the breathtaking awesomeness for which "Big Al" is legendary.

Now, just to make their mutual satisfaction copacetic with The Man Upstairs, the suspiciously happy couple -- we notice that "Trout Pout" has been smiling rather blissfully since December -- will be doing the formal religious acknowledgement of their blessed union.

In case anyone's been wondering why Becky hasn't been blogging much lately, it's probably because she's been so busy (a) planning her wedding, and (b) serving up hot home-cooked deliciousness to sate her hubby's voracious appetite. Nudge, nudge.

Despite the universal envy which their connubial contentment inspires, we all wish them the best, and expect the first of many large-handed blonde Banks/Brindle babies to make its appearance sometime early next summer. Allen's already refused lucrative offers for video of the conception, but maybe if you guys will hit the tip jar, I'll see if I can talk him into arranging for me to take photos of the delivery. IYKWIMAITYD.

(Trust me, Allen: I'm a happily married father of six. As we say at The McCain Institute, if you've seen one episiotomy, you've seen 'em all. This is about neutral, objective professional journalism.)

Unlike Ross Douthat, Ann Coulter is
not a stuck-up Harvard douchebag

Last night, Myers The Blog Intern found an interesting clip of an Ann Coulter appearance on the Glenn Beck show in March, when she described George Soros as a "Nazi collaborator."

Some liberal commenter (who may or may not be just another Media Matters hack) complained about Miss Coulter's characterization of Soros. And indeed, it is a serious accusation, since being a "Nazi collaborator" would make Soros worse than Neville Chamberlain and as bad as postmodern philosopher Martin Heidegger, although certainly no worse than France.

The liberal commenter seemed to feel that I was obliged to pass judgment on the accuracy of Miss Coulter's assessment, prompting my reply:
I think that if you have a problem with Miss Coulter's description of the wartime adventures of George Soros, you should take that up with Miss Coulter.
Far be it from me to assume that she is unable to defend her own prose. However, if my assistance were required, I would certainly provide it. I would similarly assist Rush Limbaugh, Mark Steyn, Michelle Malkin, Mark Levin or any other conservative who (a) doesn't apologize for being conservative, (b) is willing to "put skin in the game" in the fight against liberalism, and (c) isn't all stuck-up like they're better than everybody else.

This explains why I've got no use for douchebag snobs like Ross Douthat and other members of that elite crowd, The Republicans Who Really Matter. A very simple test: If you think you're better than those Pennsylvanians who stood in line on a cold windy evening for a chance to see Sarah Palin, you're a douchebag.

Ann Coulter is not like that. Say what you will about her, she doesn't mind talking to Ordinary Americans:

Seated on the patio of a D.C. restaurant (note the margarita in the foreground) Ann Coulter has a conversation with an enthusiastic Obama supporter. At left is Jeff Carneal, president of Eagle Publishing, who is probably not quite so enthusiastic about Obama.

Ann Coulter poses with Alyssa Cordova of the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute.

Ann Coulter poses with Evan Gassman and Evan's girlfriend. Evan gave me a business card, so I remembered his name. His girlfriend didn't have a business card, but she was sweet.

Ann Coulter poses with investigative journalist Matthew Vadum (right) and some blogger dude who can't even remember the name of Evan Gassman's sweet girlfriend.

So you see the difference between Ann Coulter and a certain Harvard douchebag who expects everybody to be impressed by his SAT score and skinny-dipping with Bill Buckley.

Also, Ann Coulter links my blog, unlike a douchbag.

Anti-ACORN blogger dies

Just in, from investigative reporter Matthew Vadum:
Nancy Armstrong, an ardent researcher of all things ACORN, has died. No cause of death has been reported.
Armstrong ran the MsPlacedDemocrat blog. She lived near Wichita, Kansas, and was only in her mid to late 40s. Her family posted a notice about her passing on her blog.
Our sympathies to Ms. Armstrong's family and friends.

Vadum tells me via phone that Ms. Armstrong, like our friend Cynthia Yockey, was a Democrat for Hillary until the Apotheosis of Hope finally enlightened her to the true nature of the Evil Coalition Of Liars and Fools. This should remind all our brothers and sisters that even a belated repentance can do good for the cause of Right and Truth.

Matthew Vadum, Rock Star!

Folks, if you missed the 5:15 p.m. segment of the Glenn Beck Show today, you missed a brilliant seminar on the history of the American Left and its connection to Obama and ACORN.

What tied it all together was the discussion of what's known as the "Piven-Cloward Strategy," named for Columbia University professors Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, who outlined it in a 1966 article in The Nation. Cloward and Piven were instrumental in founding the National Welfare Rights Organization, which sought to implement their ideas for bankrupting "The System" (i.e., capitalism) by purposefully overwhelming the urban social welfare infrastructure.

In discussing it in his inimitably manic way, Beck made all this sound just a wee bit tinfoil-hat, but it was all real, and has been described in several very reputable books. You can read about Cloward and Piven's ideas and the influence of NWRO in Fred Siegel's fine book on liberal urban policy, The Future Once Happened Here. The militant approach to social programs was also famously described in Tom Wolfe's famous essay, Mau-Mauing the Flak-Catchers. And if you want some good case-studies of the disastrous results of all this, I would urge you to check out Chapter 8 ("Scene of the Crime") in Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party.

Here's the thing: The '60s theorists of the New Left were such radical freaks, whenever any conservative tries to describe their actual agenda, it tends to make the conservative sound kooky. Youre natural reaction is, "Aw, there could never have been any such wild scheme to bankrupt America in order to lay the groundwork for a socialist revolution."

Except there was such a scheme. It's all true. And the foot-soldiers of that socialist revolution were people like Bill Ayers and the founders of ACORN.

The problem is that so many conservatives have a fearful flinch reaction about sounding like a "kook" in describing this '60s New Left ideology, so you rarely hear it described in a calm, factual way. Kudos to Beck for having the erudite Matthew Vadum help him document all this. Vadum described the ACORN connection last October:
ACORN's overall strategy has a name. It's called the "Cloward-Piven Strategy" of manufactured crisis (named after two anti-capitalist sociologists) and it calls for packing the welfare rolls to encourage dependency on the government and to overload it with financial demands in order to hasten the collapse of American capitalism.
ACORN founder Wade Rathke, who created ACORN in 1970, was previously an organizer for the now-defunct National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO) that was founded in 1967 by the two sociologists.
There is no need to be alarmist about the Left. Ronald Reagan, you will recall, actually faced off against Communist Party union activists in Hollywood in the 1940s, and never once sounded kooky when he called them what they were. The Left has been defeated before; we just need calm courage and we will defeat them again.
