They haven't captured Bin Laden, but . . .

. . . why not start with the small fry?
ZURICH – Director Roman Polanski was arrested by Swiss police for possible extradition to the United States for having sex in 1977 with a 13-year-old girl, authorities said Sunday.
Polanski was flying in to receive an honorary award at the Zurich Film Festival when he was apprehended Saturday at the airport, the Swiss Justice Ministry said in a statement. It said U.S. authorities have sought the arrest of the 76-year-old around the world since 2005.
"There was a valid arrest request and we knew when he was coming," ministry spokesman Guido Balmer told The Associated Press. "That's why he was taken into custody." . . .
Thanks to Joe the Commenter for the tip. We await condemnation of "Swiss populism" from Andrew Sullivan.

  1. Heh, I just posted on this, too.

What a f*cking douche, he should've been put in the slammer decades ago.

Plus, all of his movies are crap.

Though not quite as bad as all of Woody Allen's. How does he continue to trick studios into letting him make more movies?

  2. And boo to your "Your comment will be visible after approval" BS, Stacy.

  3. He was never quite right after Sharon Tate died, it's just sad, really. But it's good that finally he's going to see justice for what he did - even the Manson family is no excuse for pedophilia.

  4. Actually, it's going to be much worse than the wrath of Sully. He will join forces with Qaddafi and other freedom loving forces around the world to rid the world of Switzerland, giving it back to France, Germany and Italy, from whom it was stolen. And Obama will give them a bazillion dollars and cancel all Swiss passports to aid in the effort. AND he will swoop in and quickly gram the banking records so he will know who owes him taxes. Personally owes him taxes that could be used to finance health care.

  5. Maybe you could start a Rule-5-and-Under Roman Polanski Wednesday (Hump Day!) event. Bring in those free-spending NAMBLA voters, reach around, er, across the aisle, as it were...

  6. Total sleaze. I posted on this too...and I have a photo of the 13 year old girl, as well as a link to some of her testimony...I didn't post the really icky stuff though, but if you want to read it, it's on The Smoking Gun.

We can't let this be pushed under the rug...there is talk of dropping the charges...excuse, me, but drugging, raping, sodomizing and taking nude photos of a 13 year old girl, and then fleeing justice isn't just a minor boo-boo. Justice demands a jail sentence.

  7. After I read the news yesterday, I was thinking "good for him, the justice will finally have a go". But then I though again, pondering on the fact that the lady expressed her wish for the charges to be dropped - and I thought what is the justice here for? For the victim or for some above cause?

  8. They don't need the accuser...the charges aren't brought by the accuser, they are brought by the State of California.

He drugged her. The things he did were VILE. Oral, Anal, etc. type vile. She was 13. 1977-13 is like 6 in post-Brittany years.

He was looking at 8 felony counts then--50 years. Why does fleeing justice mean he gets a walk now--why are people acting like it was a long time ago, it's no big deal?

He is disgusting. He should die in prison. And share a cell with Manson.

OK--I know that last part might get me sent to Hell...pray for me.

  9. Yes, Roman did admit he had sex with the 13 year old girl; however, he was not charged with rape. … what he did was wrong, even if it was long ago, he still was made responsible for this…
