Daily Atlantic HuffPo Monthly Beast
No student of Oakeshott or Kirk will be deceived when Rovian neocons engage in Potemkin symbolism to make Joe the Plumber believe that Iranian "reform" candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi wrote this letter to the White House:
From the Office of Mr. Mir Hossein MousaviRi-iiight. "Democracy and freedom" are well-known neocon code words for U.S. hegemonic imperialism (the Joooooz!) and "moral conviction" means back-alley abortions. We were repeatedly warned last year that only right-wing racists like Ann Coulter call Obama by his middle name. Mousavi soon will be airing video of Ahmadinejad dancing with Britney Spears (nudge, nudge).
To the President of the USA, Mr. Barack Hussein Obama:
Dear Mr. President,
In the name of the Iranian people, we want you to know that when you recently made the statement "Achmadinejad or Mousavi? Two of a kind," we consider this as a grave and deep insult, not just to Mr. Mousavi but especially against the judgment of the Iranian people, against our moral conviction and intelligence, especially those of the young generation that comprises a population of 31 million.
It is a specially grave insult for those who are now fighting for democracy and freedom . . .
This so-called "revolution" in Iran is clearly another Cheney/Halliburton war-for-oil conspiracy scripted by AIPAC. This alleged letter from Mousavi was actually written by Bill Kristol and sent to his buddy Michael Ledeen . . . well, you get the picture. Question the timing.
Of course, the Republican/Zionist-controlled lapdogs in the Corporate Media won't tell you about this. They want you to believe that Iranians can actually write e-mails.
As if Sarah Palin really gave birth to Trig.
As if fire could melt steel.
But We Know The TRUTH! And the Truth is that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is Karl Rove. The Truth is that the Ayatollah is a Neo-Con. The Truth is that the mullahs are Republican homophobic Christofascist godbags.
Chickenhawk Israel Lobby warmongers like Dan Riehl, Mark Levin and Glenn Reynolds will deny this, before predictably resorting to ad hominems. But as their neocon puppets repressively violate human rights and systematically disenfranchise gay marriage supporters in Iran -- a classic Fox News/Prop 8/Patriot Act move -- it becomes increasingly obvious that the Riehl/Levin/Reynolds axis has blood on its hands.
They have no credibility, which is why they continue ignoring my substantive arguments.
UPDATE: Memeorandum is impressed by the Truth of my substantive arguments.
*wimper* It's not that your arguments are not substantive, *sniff* Stacy, it's that they so poorly fit the *cough* narrative!
ReplyDeleteAchooo!
Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteMrs. P
Via Michael Ledeen? Now I KNOW the Neocons aren't involved. In case it is not obvious - sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteLook. Sullivan has done a valuable sevice in keeping track of this Iranian uprising. However, like others on the Left, he also has to straddle in the almost mindless defense of Teh Won (D-Ice Cream) while blaming the ills of the Middle East on Das Neocons and Leo Strauss.
ReplyDeleteAndrew isn't quite to the point yet where he is ready to admit that Obama's "restrain" is actually an open admission that the Emperor has no clothes.
Twenty years from now, people will thank the U.S. Army and Marine Corps for making it possible for an eventual Iranian revolution to succeed. But the Lefties go into hysterics if you suggest that now, "Oakshotteans" like Andrew included.

ReplyDeleteJigga wha...? Are you suggesting we spread some democracy in Iran now? Is that what the so-called conservatives want?
God help us.
Happy Father's Day, Stacy, and to all you dads out there. I'll be praying the War Party doesn't draft our children into another "Misunderestimated Mesopotamian Misadventure." [/Carolus]
Mere weeks after the United States invaded Iraq, Richard Perle said publicly of neighboring Iran and any other country who would dare to oppose the United States: “You’re next.” Behind the scenes, the Iranians are reported to have approached the Bush administration in the spring of 2003 with an offer to negotiate an end to their nuclear program in exchange for normalized relations (Nicholas Kristof posted the docs on the NYT blog).
The Bush administration’s response? “No comment.” Instead, they effectively let Richard Perle do the talking for them. Within a few years, the small circle of reformers who had been willing to reach out to the United States were gone from power, replaced by Holocaust-denier Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Since then, pro-democracy advocates in Iran have had a simple message for the Americans who purport to be their saviors: butt out. Most notable among this group is Nobel-laureate Shirin Ebadi, who has been outspoken in calling the elections a fraud, but has been equally clear in urging American leaders not to anoint the Iranian reform movement as America’s choice. Ebadi has praised Obama’s approach. A more outspoken, or even hostile, posture by Washington would certainly evoke a counterreaction among fiercely nationalistic Iranians.
In short, the louder the neocons become in their braying for a free and fair counting of the election results, the less likely it is to occur. In their more candid moments, a few are willing to admit that they would prefer Ahmadinejad to Mousavi.
Now *that's* funny! Conservatives need a lot less earnest, csrefully reasoned arguements and a lot more cruel, insensitive humor.
ReplyDeleteA first hand account of the protests:
ReplyDelete‘eventually we decided to walk back to our car, but the metro station was packed so we walked all the way back. at some point, on sattar khan st, under a bridge, about 30 kids had lit a fire in the middle of the street and were chanting slogans. one of the slogans i heard near here was “mardom chera neshastin, iran shodeh felestin” (people why are you sitting, iran has become palestine).
When Israel eventually fades away, it won't be due to peacenik weenies like me. Israel's destruction will be ushered in by its supporters.
Conservatives don't conserve anything. They destroy and denature.
Rae, check this out: "Iran Secretly Helped U.S. Bomb Taliban Units, Find Al Qaeda"
ReplyDeleteNot long after the United States drafted Iran into the exclusive "Axis of Evil" club.
Helping the United States can be a pointless endeavor.
