Kennedy apparently decided to go public to build support and scare off others, including Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, whose nasty divorce from her cousin still roils both clans. Kennedy also had to introduce herself to Democratic party leaders because, other than endorsing Obama, her politics were a mystery.
But the minute she faced the routine questions that help define a candidate for virtually any office, she had nothing to say. There was no "there" there.

When my wife was going through chemo treatments in 2006, there was a woman in her class from Boston. I sat with my wife through all of her treatments and talked many times with this Florida transplanted Bostonian. Her background was the typical NW Liberal, but she was mostly an air head. I pointedly asked her why the people of Mass. support Ted Kennedy time and time again. She told me that "He deserved all the support he can get, after what his family had been through!" Basically saying he and his family had hereditary entitlement to whatever they wanted from this country. Made me sick.
