Catherine Vogt, 14, is an Illinois 8th grader, the daughter of a liberal mom and a conservative dad. She wanted to conduct an experiment in political tolerance and diversity of opinion at her school in the liberal suburb of Oak Park.Want to guess the result? One classmate suggested "she be 'burned with her shirt on' for 'being a filthy-rich Republican.' " Irony? Median household income in Oak Park is nearly $60,000 and the median home value is more than $230,000, according to the Census Bureau.
She noticed that fellow students at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School overwhelmingly supported Barack Obama for president. His campaign kept preaching "inclusion," and she decided to see how included she could be.
So just before the election, Catherine consulted with her history teacher, then bravely wore a unique T-shirt to school and recorded the comments of teachers and students in her journal. The T-shirt bore the simple yet quite subversive words drawn with a red marker:
"McCain Girl."
Another excellent argument for home-schooling.
This must be what the "52-48" crowd means that they want to get along and all would be OK when the Messiah ushers in a new era in the United States!
ReplyDeleteThese people and the anti-prop 8 types are the same ones that call Bush a fascist. I've never heard a republican, conservative or libertarian sanction the killing of someone because of what they think, but it is becoming all too commonplace with these folks. Do they ever look in the mirror when they say these things? Intellectual terrorism has become De Rigueur for the left and unless we stand up and say enough we will have a de facto re-education camp. Oh..that's already happened. Well may be... it's too late.
