Alan Colmes equates Levi and Sarah

by Smitty

Lefty self-parody comedian Alan Colmes has a post that equates Sarah Palin's beauty contest participation with Levi Johnston, who is "selling his body for money" as Sarah put it, in a statement somewhere.

Alan, if you can't tell the difference between participating in a beauty pageant and Levi's behavior, then you're closer to Sullivan's Disease than I feared.

Alan Colmes: Could you miss the point by a wider margin?

by Smitty

Alan Colmes has a stomach turner of a post: "Would Jesus Like Today’s GOP?"

From a collective noun point of view, I submit that Jesus wouldn't have cared about the GOP. Jesus was entirely a-political, from the time he preached a Sermon on the Mount that had zero political content, to the time he essentially refused to engage the Sanhedrin and Pontius Pilate before the crucifixion.

From an individual point of view, Jesus cares for every member of the GOP, everyone on the left, the readers of this post, and me.

I request that everyone sit down with a cuppa their favorite warm beverage and actually READ what Jesus had to say in the Gospels prior to attempting to enlist the Christ to support any viewpoint on any particular issue.

While Christ, and therefore His actual followers, are not going to engage in explosive landscaping near you as result of your silliness, Alan, you are on notice that this is a Party Foul.

Argue your point from a simple ethical base, and cease missing the point of the Christ, please.

UPDATE (RSM): Just saw this via Memeorandum -- why bother actually reading your own blog? -- and wanted to say that whenever I want advice about Jesus, Alan Colmes is the man whose advice I seek.

We're like this, me and Alan. Old buddies from way back. One of the finest Christians I've ever known. So I hope Rachel Maddow will book good ol' Al on her show, because he's such a dear friend of mine and Lynn Vincent's.

Alan Colmes, Accidental Comic

by Smitty

Alan Colmes remains unintentionally funny:
In full wingnuterry, Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann had some crazy things to say to the Bachmann-friendly site Atlas Shrugs.
He then goes on to attempt a take-down. Atlas Shrugs, on the other hand, is spot-on. I'm not a betting man. Were I, I'm, confident Pamela would be drinking Alan's milkshake, if things got down to brass tacks. Just saying.

Alan Colmes Has Incredible Insight

By Smitty
Alan claims that Joe the Plumber is now being used by the right wing to speak against the Employee Free Choice Act.
Alan's post could be improved by demonstrating just how he comes by the knowledge that Joe is not a free moral agent. Possibly Joe's common sense allows him to see the handcuffs for what they really are, Alan.
The Free Employee Choice Act/Legislation (FECAL) is a fine set of what Freeberg calls opposite words. Joe represents a blue-collar Inigo Montoya:
Democrats: You don't like the Employee Free Choice Act? INCONCEIVABLE.
Joe: You keep using those words. I do not think they mean what you would have me think they mean.
I'm fairly certain, having met Joe, that he's not a tool. Alan Colmes, not so sure.

No, Mr. Colmes: It Really Does Bite

by Smitty
Alan Colmes remains a partisan re-arranger of deckchairs on a colossal metaphor:
Even now, Obama is being accused by conservatives of talking down the economy, and fear-mongering when he is doing exactly the opposite. And when he expresses optimism, he’s criticized for that, too.
Could it be that there is an increasing perception/gnawing sensation the POTUS is fiddling while Rome burns? Sure, the crisis wasn't built overnight, and has been caused and analyzed by people with more combined degrees than a magnetic compass. But for those of us simpletons, here are just a couple of pictures for discussion:

The federal budget is increasingly spoken for. A quick regression across those charts tells me that if you haven't told me the plan to de-fang the Federal government, you haven't told me much. Oh, you want to increase the depth of the Fed's bite? Are you out of your copulating mind, sir?

Then there is household debt, really close to the GDP. This is not a partisan problem. After partying like a rock star, there will be a hangover.

Somewhere in between fear mongering and pollyanna is the stoic assumption of responsibility that's required. But that would be a conservative response, and we'll thus have to wade through a few more years of sewer pipe to get there. Alan, you earn your bread cheerleading for the wrong side. Ponder the Constitution and repent.

Let us keep Barak Obama, the man, in our prayers. There are already enough "banana republic" effects occurring, without venturing into the darker, unspeakable ones. As for the Obama Administration's policies ... let the Tea Parties roll!
