Third Party Watch considers the various scenarios for the Barr-Root campaign to approach the November election (including the "Gold State" strategy).
Of course, it's very early in the process for the Libertarian Party ticket to make any solid commitments for the fall campaign. The obvious steps at this point are (a) raising money; (b) building state- and county-level organizations; and (c) getting as much "earned media" as they can get -- which seems to be a good bit, considering that Barr will travel to New York this week to appear on "The Colbert Report" and Glenn Beck's CNN/Headline News show.
According to their Web site, the Barr-Root campaign has raised about $200,000 so far. Once they've got enough money to start making major TV ad buys, a state-by-state strategy will be necessary. In the meantime, the strategic discussion is just that -- a discussion.
