"I noticed over the last several weeks that the forces of division have started to raise their ugly heads again. And I'm not here to cast blame or point fingers because everybody, you know, senses that there's been this shift," Obama said.
"It reminds me: We've got a tragic history when it comes to race in this country. We've got a lot of pent-up anger and bitterness and misunderstanding. ... This country wants to move beyond these kinds of things."
(Via Memeorandum.) This is certainly a positive political development: Democrats accusing other Democrats of racial demagoguery. Of course, it can only last until one or the other of them wins the Democratic nomination, at which point all the blame shifts back to the GOP. But until the Pennsylvania primary's over, at least, we can enjoy the spectacle.
LGF accuses the Associated Press of a "blatant whitewash" of Jeremiah Wright's incendiary rhetoric, since the AP story just labels Wright's sermons "inflammatory" without actually quoting any of his racialist, anti-American or anti-Israel remarks.
Michael Kinsley mocks the whole "gaffe" scandal genre -- it's pretty funny.
