In NJ, that is middle class, not rich at all. As you probably know, we have one of the highest property taxes in the country. Despite this, Corzine is expanding the education budget:

"There are certain parts of our government's work that we must sustain. In New Jersey, we recognize the importance of our children, they are our bright hope for the future. To that purpose, in this budget, we have increased, rather than cut, classroom funding for K-12 education. And with the federal government's help, we're giving our children a jump-start on a lifetime of learning."

http://www.state.nj.us/governor/home/budget10/index.html

I'm not sure who I will be voting for in the primary but I'm leaning towards Lonegan. From what I hear, Christie is a "moderate" Republican. We have nothing left to lose, might as well go for the longer shot conservative.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00148136906774102799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4223398383609158624.post-46260697780643596392009-05-30T01:26:23.146-04:002009-05-30T01:26:23.146-04:00New Jersey resident here. Rather than make serious cuts, he wants to suspend property tax rebates and he raised the parkway tolls (that was the kiss of death).

On the Republican side, Chris Christie is the moderate from the same mold as Whitman and Lonegan is the real conservative.

I will be voting for Lonegan and should he lose to Christie, I will write in his name in the general election. We are so running out of money in Jersey in so many ways. I didn't vote for him, but there have been quite a few times I felt his heart(& head) was in the right place. Not always for sure....

Tax receipts are down over a billion off projections for the year, & a whole lot of things having to do with that, or with what he says must be done because of that, have pissed many off as well. One problem, which crosses all party lines & states, is many angry people seem to know snippets of high profile stories which they then base their like/dislike upon. There are many other NJ issues(as in all states), but basically(I'm greatly simplifying) we spent too much, fam. story, but no one wants to pay the piper.

I'm still not certain how I will be voting. ~MaryAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
