Not difficult for me, but . . .

    It's about the motive.
    If you've got 0 self esteem, and cannot accept a compliment, that is an area to grow.
    If you're concerned about accuracy, and make sure you "hat tip" the appropriate people, that's quite another thing.

    The magic of Jesus's commandment to love your neighbor as your self is in its corollary - to love yourself as you do your neighbor. There is no reason to be embarrassed by honest praise and congratulations that would not cause cringing if given to another. Of course, fulsome and dishonest praise is always unpleasant to hear, regardless of the object. It should be shunned or shut down.

    Of course that whole thing depends on how well we are living that commandment.
